Walsdorf is approximately a 3-hour drive from Utrecht, centrally located in the Vulkaneifel, right in between two former volcano craters. One of them, is the Arensberg, which can be visited (free) and can be entered by a tunnel.

On a 10 minute driving distance, the Waterfall Dreimühlen can be found. This is (another) another nature phenomenon and for more information, please look at: https://www.eifel.info/

Walking and cycling paths can be found in the immediate vicinity of our B&B, are easily accessible and all well signposted. From here you can also walk into the center within about 10 minutes. More about Walsdorf can be found at: www.walsdorf-vulkaneifel.de

The famous town of Hillesheim is only 10 minutes by car. Here you will find shops with local products, supermarkets and restaurants: www.hillesheim.de

The main attraction of Hillesheim is the imposing city wall. Furthermore, the large number of monuments in the old city center are striking, as well as the special natural monuments. Because Hillesheim is a recognized tourist resort, the facilities for tourists are also well organized. In addition to the beautiful old town, Hillesheim also has a lot to offer in terms of recreation. The lake in Bolsdorfer Tälchen, near the town, offers a variety of sporting options. There are many well-signposted hiking and biking trails in this area, such as the Kylltal-Radweg, the Eifelsteig, the Eifel-Krimi-Wanderweg, based on the books of the detective writers Jacques Berndorf and Ralf Kramp and the Geopfad Hillesheim.

Cities such as Koblenz, Bitburg, Trier, Prüm and Gerolstein are easily accessible for a pleasant (city) day trip.

And the cities on the Mosel (Mosel), such as Cochem and Zell, can be reached within the hour.

Here you can take wonderful boat trips or enjoy the local wines and gastronomy along the banks.

More information about this can be found at: www.cochem.de/tourismus

For water enthusiasts, in addition to the Mosel and the nearby Vulkanmaaren near Daun, the Kronenburger See and the Freilinger See are half an hour away and of course the Rursee should not be missed: www.rursee.de

Here you can also take wonderful boat trips or dive into history in camp Vogelsang, the former training center of the SS, see: https://vogelsang-ip.de/

Do you want to go even further back in time? Then visit the picturesque town of Monschau or one of the many castles, such as Gerolstein, Nürburg, Historisch Kronenburg, Manderscheid, Reifferscheid, Wildenburg and Cochem.

Bad Münstereifel should also be included in this list. Here you can combine good shopping with good food in the unmistakable atmosphere of a medieval village.

For fans of car and motorcycle racing in all classes, the Grüne Hölle should of course not be missing. The Nürburgring with its Formula 1 circuit and the Nordschleife are within only 25 minutes by car from Haus Kristal, and worth more than one visit! Look for the race calendar at: www.nuerburgring.de

Do not forget to visit the Ring-o-Werk museum here for a 360-degree racing experience or get behind the wheel yourself on the adjacent go-kart track.

You can also go karting on the long outdoor "strecke" of the Dahlemer Binz, see: www.kartbahn-dahlemer-binz.de

Haus Kristal is only 2.6 kilometers from the long-distance hike trail the Eifelsteig (Hillesheim, stages 8 and 9 to Mirbach and Gerolstein).
